Teresa’s Playroom Challenges:

Teresa’s living room is multipurpose- a playroom for her two young girls, and the place where she and her husband like to put their feet up and relax.  Not having a dedicated playroom makes it hard to separate “kid” space from “adult” space, and Teresa confessed to feeling like her house was turning into one big playroom!

Our Joint Strategy

Use the room’s built-in storage, but reset to a 4 year old’s perspective. Four year old children are at the perfect age to foster early literacy, and promote independence.  Clear bins, well labeled, help little ones match visual cues with their written descriptions.  It’s amazing how much more willing kids can be to take responsibility for cleaning up their things (just like they do in preschool!) when they know where it all belongs!

How did it go?
